Our Mission
Cascade Collie Rescue rescues and rehomes collies in Oregon and Southern Washington.
Cascade Collie Rescue was established by individuals who have had experience with the rescue of Collies from rescues involving large numbers of dogs. These same individuals have years of experience with dogs of several breeds and with the more holistic veterinary care and positive reinforcement training that promotes an all around healthier and happier Collie. Cascade Collie Rescue, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation. We provide shelter and care to purebred Collies which have been abandoned or turned in to shelters. The Collies are placed in temporary foster homes until a permanent home can be found. We will also assist individual owners in placing their Collies if, for some reason, they are no longer able to keep and care for them. Our commitment is to place the Collies in the best possible permanent home to give them a second chance in life. Prospective families that wish to adopt a Collie will be interviewed and a home visit will be conducted. Basic information about the family, pet ownership history and why they want a Collie is required. Our goal is to achieve a successful match between the Collie and the adopting family. We want a happy ending to every rescue story, and part of that process is selecting a suitable Collie to fit into the lifestyle and needs of the adopting family. Each rescued Collie has a modest adoption fee which covers most of the dog's expenses. Donations are always needed and gratefully accepted.
All rescued Collies will undergo a complete veterinary check-up to assess what treatment and care is necessary. All Collies released from rescue will be spayed or neutered before going to their new homes. Because of the recent changes in current vaccination protocol and the studies now available concerning the sensitivity of some Collies to vaccinations, not all Collies will be given vaccinations or medications. Veterinary treatment will vary with each individual Collie.
After veterinary care and a complete grooming, the Collie is placed in a foster home for socialization and evaluation of temperament, quirks, likes and dislikes until adopted.
